How To Jump Start BMW 330i xDrive, Highlights (2019 Model)
Do not use any starting spray to start the engine in your BMW 330i xDrive during jump start procedure.
Preparation for jump starting a BMW 330i xDrive:
- Observe the following points when starting the battery with a jumper cable:
- Ensure that the line cross-section of the jumper cable is sufficient.
- Use only fused jumper cables.
- Check that the battery supplying current has 12 V voltage.
- If jump-starting is provided by another vehicle, ensure that there is no bodywork contact between the vehicles.
Attention! Do not touch any live parts of the ignition system, high voltage – mortal hazard!
If the battery of the vehicle providing current is low, start the engine and run at idle speed.
Execution of the jump start procedure for a BMW 330i xDrive:
The procedure must be following to ensure there is no property damage or personal injury.
- For automatic transmission, engage speed level “P”, apply parking brake.
- For manual transmission, move gearshift lever to idle position, apply the parking brake.
- Make sure that the jumper cable cannot come into contact with the rotating parts, e.g. fan.
- First connect the two positive terminals of the batteries with a jumper cable (red).
- For vehicles with batteries in the luggage compartment, use the remote positive terminal in the engine compartment.
- Then, using the second jumper cable (black), connect the negative terminal of the battery supplying current to the grounding point (not the negative terminal or the body) of the vehicle to be started.
Attention! Do not connect the second jumper cable (black) to the negative terminal of the battery of the vehicle to be started. The resulting explosive gas could ignite due to spark formation. Danger of explosion! If the engine of the vehicle being started has been started up, first disconnect the jumper cable between the negative terminal and grounding point. Then disconnect the jumper cable from the positive terminals.
